Planet Valentine, I Love You

earth valentine

Each year we dedicate so much love to people on Valentine’s Day that we’ve forgotten a really important piece to give some love to – Mother Earth.

This year I dedicate not only my love, but my actions to protect you, to stand up for you and to do what is always right.

I dedicate these words of love to you..

Mother Earth,

Love is to be celebrated each day. I send to you not only my love, but my compassion and peace for you to be part of each and every day.

As I watch out over the ocean, I see the ebb and flow of love. It gets stronger and stronger each time it reaches the shoreline. When the water reaches my feet, I can feel love wash over me.

I love you with all of the cells in my body. When I see how you always take care of me, it makes me want to touch you and hug you so tightly.

It is rare to find a planet that has such a deep and beautiful soul, who always forgives.. Never relenting. I can feel you look within me and you radiate a happiness that I can’t really describe.

I love you. Never change the way you are. It is so lovely and pure and I am head over heals for you.

Do you want to dedicate some love too? Here are some of my favorite actions to get started that may become a regular go to for your sustainable lifestyle. Remember, have fun and be creative too. When you have fun, it’s not work, but pure love!

Ditch the plastic bags- for good!

Each time you bring your own reusable bag you are saying yes to keeping this type of waste out of all types of environments, especially the oceans.

Pick up the trash on the ground instead of walking by it

I’ve been personally inspired by the people who make this a mission. Instead of thinking it is someone else’s job to pick up trash, take action and do it yourself. It’s one less piece of trash that our wildlife can avoid.

Plant a Tree or donate one!

Roll up your sleeves and give life to your outdoor area by planting a tree or native shrubbery. If gardening and landscaping isn’t your thing, there are plenty of places like the Arbor Day Foundation or the Nature Conservancy where you can still add trees to the planet. A simple donation will get the trees planted in the right spots around the world. Be part of helping to plant a billion of them.

If you own a business, become an Ocean Friendly Business

There are lots of ways that you can start choosing how you can lessen your impact on the world by changing how you do business. Whether it be by starting a recycling program, using less water and energy or using sustainable products and vendors this is a way to be kinder to Mother Earth.

Volunteer for the Earth in your Local Community

There are many local organizations that are doing good work for the world each day. Choose one with a mission that resonates with you. My favorites here in my home area are Sierra Club, Surfrider,  and Tampa Bay Watch. It will amaze you how much can be done when collectively people come together for such important causes. When you participate with different environmental groups you will have a new appreciation for why the environment is worth protecting. You never know when you may meet your new best friend.
