NU is Ottawa’s first zero waste grocery store. We’re on a mission to eliminate packaging waste and reinvent consumption! Adopting zero waste shopping habits means saying no to unnecessary and single-use packaging, and buying sustainable products in the quantities that we really need. No more packaging waste. No more food waste.
Our goal is to offer a zero waste option for almost every daily grocery need, with the exception of meat and fish.
Our store is medium-sized but we offer a good range of food and non-food products. That’s because our assortment is focused. For example, we don’t sell ten different brands of strawberry jam, but offer one that we have chosen because it is locally produced, high in fruit, low in sugar, and contains no additives.
Our products are carefully selected. We favor local suppliers, offer organic products whenever they are available, and our products are all-natural – no additives, colourings and harmful chemicals.
