The Urban Homestead Project is located in Pasadena, CA. Since 1985, the Dervaes Family has steadily worked at transforming their ordinary home into a homestead.
We are family operated and a highly productive city farm. Through sustainable lifestyle choices, our homestead has become a successful, real-life working model for sustainable agriculture and self reliant living in the city.
With a harvest 3 tons (6,000 lbs) of organic product annually from our 1/10 acre garden, we have proved that growing ones’ own food can be sustainable, practical, successful and beautiful in urban areas.
Also we strive to incorporate many sustainable practices from solar energy, greywater, biodiesel in order to reduce our footprint.
