Join the round table for a book discussion on This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs The Climate by Naomi Klein and possible collaborative initiatives that entail proactive solutions to climate change.

Community members are invited to join Marie Nelson, professor Emerita in Integrated Studies at National Louis University, certified permaculture designer, and founder of Tampa Bay Time Bank http://tampabaytime.org and Carl Herndl, professor teaching Rhetoric in the USF English Department and “Communicating the Value of Sustainability” at the Patel College of Global Sustainability. He is the author of Green Culture; Environmental Rhetoric in Contemporary America and Sustainability: A Reader for Writers. http://english.usf.edu/faculty/cherndl/ and Andrew Rock, founder of Tampa Bay Buddhist Climate Action Network http://tbbcan.globalbcan.org/, previously a health care attorney, and president of the board of Sweetwater Organic Community Farm and Florida Community of Mindfulness. They will bring different perspectives on the book and open the conversation to the table.

According to Naomi Klein, “climate change is a civilizational wake-up call, a powerful message delivered in the language of fires, floods, storms, and droughts. Confronting it is no longer about changing the light bulbs. It’s about changing the world—before the world changes so drastically that no one is safe.

Either we leap—or we sink”

Join the Bridge, USF students and Tampa community members to reflect on the Klein’s statements. “Climate change is not just a threat – it’s also an opportunity to chart a different course”.  Let’s work towards solutions for building a more just, democratic and resilient world.

WHERE:  USF Tampa, Patel College of Global Solutions CGS, Room 136-138.  Free parking is available in front of Patel College. Refreshments will be served.
