You’re invited to see the film “Racing Extinction” on Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 pm at the Davanni’s at 3430 129th Ave NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448. Recently an alarming new report was released saying that one million plant and animal species are on the verge of extinction, with alarming implications for human survival. The report said that the accelerating rate of extinctions “means grave impacts on people around the world are now likely.”
“Racing Extinction” is a film that describes the severe impact that human activity is having on nature. In the film a team of artists and activists exposes the hidden world of extinction with never-before-seen images that will change the way you see the planet. The film shows the two major threats to endangered wild species across the globe: international wildlife trade including overfishing and bogus medicinal cures and tonics, and the continuing use of fossil fuels that is rapidly changing the climate and acidifying the oceans. The film uses innovative photographic technology that provides stunning and heart-wrenching images of nature and of human abuse of it.
There is no admission charge, but attendees are encouraged to buy something to eat or drink from Davanni’s.
This event is sponsored by Anoka Area Climate Action.
