Green Me Locally is proud to be part of a national campaign to relaunch the educational messaging of Woodsy Owl. Many of you may recall the national public service announcements during the 1970’s and 1980’s featuring an iconic character known as Woodsy Owl . This character was created as part of a large campaign launched by the United States Forest Service to raise awareness about how to keep our environment free of pollution. The most popular slogan for Woodsy Owl was “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute.”
Woodsy Owl still exists today, however the United States Government no longer provides funding for educational public service announcements like the ones in the past.
A new project called Woodsy Owl animation is currently in the works to bring back this all important conservation messaging to young children and families in the form of an animated film. A group of very passionate and artistic people are in the process of raising funds to create the upcoming film. Currently, individuals and organizations are encouraged to share and promote the messaging of Woodsy Owl and his friends through your favorite social media platform.
The project is geared for young children ages 3-8 and their families to inspire and help them develop a healthy respect for nature and the planet.
What does it mean to Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute? Woodsy Owl would like you to be part of making a difference by taking part in things such as recycling, keeping waterways and land free of trash and debris, reusing items, composting and much more..
