O Cinema & Love and Vegetables present… Love And A Movie!
Burt’s Buzz: Brunch Before BED
We love brunch at Love & Vegetables, but we don’t like having to get up so early to make it, so we thought we would have a fun twist on our next dinner event and make brunch for dinner!

THE MENU: Organic Greens Salad with Sprouts We love taking the healthiest greens, house-made sprouts, activated nuts, and local fruit and mixing them all together into a balanced, yummy, and delicious dish full of energy and bliss. Squash Pancakes with Mango Syrup It’s that time of year again, Mango Season, and mangoes are starting to ripen in South Florida and with an abundance of local squash hanging around, we’re mixing these two together and making some hot griddle love. Pancakes for dinner! Grilled Bunny Dogs with Peppers and Onions It’s summer in Miami, and what better way to celebrate then marinating organic carrots in an umami bath, cooking them to a crisp brown perfection on the flattop grill swimming in the juices of almost-caramelized peppers and onions. Wild-Fermented Earth N’ Us Collard Greens Pikliz We have greens, greens, and some more greens at the Earth N’s Us Farm in Little Haiti, and before the sun gets too hot, we’re making our own wild-fermented haitian pikliz with another cruciferous vegetable, collard greens, instead of cabbage. Wild Edibles Cupcakes For our dessert, with making these sweet little cakes a little more interesting by adding an assortment of South Florida Wild Edibles to the mix for a unique flavor profile while unleashing all the hidden health benefits of plants people consider weeds. Shawnee’s Green Thumb Pop Corn It wouldn’t be a movie without popcorn, and it’s not popcorn unless it’s green, covered in spirulina, and nutritional yeast. So we called on our long-time friend Shawnee from Shawnee’s Green Thumb Popcorn, and asked her to dish out some of her world famous pop corn to our guests!

THE Movie BURT’S Buzz is a humorous, authentic and compelling journey into the remarkable double life of Burt Shavitz— a reclusive beekeeper who reluctantly became one of the world’s most recognizable brand identities. Filmmaker Jody Shapiro follows Burt from the pot-bellied stove of his rustic rural lifestyle to another world on the other side of the world, in Taiwan where the septuagenarian is greeted by hoards of his adoring fans. Moving from his privileged childhood on Long Island to his early career as a photo-journalist in counter-culture Greenwich Village, Burt left his past behind to pursue an almost monastic existence as a beekeeper in upstate Maine. Between these extremes is the story of a man who chose his own path and accidentally spawned a billion dollar natural product line. Guided by those who know or at least think they know Burt best, Burt’s Buzz is a fascinating portrait of a singular personality who refuses to conform.
