A PLASTIC OCEAN begins when journalist Craig Leeson, searching for the elusive blue whale, discovers plastic waste in what should be pristine ocean. In this adventure documentary, Craig teams up with free diver Tanya Streeter and an international team of scientists and researchers, and they travel to twenty locations around the world over the next four years to explore the fragile state of our oceans, uncover alarming truths about plastic pollution, and reveal working solutions that can be put into immediate effect.

David Attenborough described this a documentary as “one of the most important films of our time”.

Following the screening, we will have a discussion about what is being done locally and nationally and how people can join in and support efforts to address the issue.

We are being joined by Sorcha Cantwell who set up the ‘Scottish Coastal Cleanup Project’last year and has collected over a ton of rubbish from our beaches. We also have ‘Ullapool Sea Saver’ – a group of campaigning primary pupils who will be bringing along some ideas too.

Free entry – donations to Scottish Coastal Cleanup Project accepted.

Screening has been joint funded by Living Seas and the MacPhail Centre/High Life Highlan
