The USF Research that Matters Sustainable Food Conference will bring together food researchers from USF and the larger Tampa Bay community to share ideas and findings that will pave the path toward more sustainable and resilient communities. Exhibitors will also be on hand to share recent, local developments related to food. The conference will conclude with an optional tour (2:30 – 4pm) of several local community gardens.
Conference topics include: Gardening (individual, school, workplace, community); Farmer’s Markets, Community Supported Agriculture, and Co-ops; Local Food Networks; Food Waste; Social Dynamics of Food Consumption; Food Policy; Food Deserts & Access; Research Methods for Studying Food and Gardening; Climate Change and Food; Global Food Markets/Fair Trade Food; Agricultural Labor& Food Justice; Slow Food and Foodies; Mass Media and Popular Culture Depictions of Food; and Food and Agricultural Education.
